A Course In Miracles Lesson 4... and Other (Un)Related Musings

Man, i guess the lessons can't stay easy forever. As you can see in my notes saying my thoughts don't mean anything is a lot harder then saying my stuffed animals don't mean anything. I mean, they are my thoughts, how do they not mean anything? (And yes, yes, i know that i am the one that gives them meaning... its just a harder concept to grasp then the exercises in the first three lessons).

"Further, since these exercises are the first of their kind, you may find the suspension of judgement in connection with thoughts particularly difficult." - ACIM   <----No shit, you think? You try having someone (or a book) tell you that what you think really doen't mean anything. (my first reaction when i read that sentence).

I think this lesson literally made my head hurt...

But beside doing my lesson for the day i finally started to dive in to the text. This i can tell is going to be a challenge. I can only read a few pages at a time a) because of the way the language/diction is structured/used and b) its just dense and something i actually have to think about and reflect on and not just something i can plow through like the Hunger Games trilogy (amazing series btw).

But in reading such a text of course an old A.P. English habit comes out...

Yup, i write in my books. And not just in books like this but almost all of my books. If it triggers a thought i'll write it down, or if i really like a passage i'll circle it or underline. If i dont understand or know a word i'll circle it and write "dct" to remind myself to look it up in a dictionary. It's just an old habit that will never die. (Then again, i like "actively" reading. I feel i get more out of a book if i do it).

And for those readers of my blog that may not nesc be studying ACIM or are not interested in it...

I saw this awesome care while taking a slightly different route home picking up printer paper from CVS (For a few projects im working on that i will be sharing later). It is amazing in so many ways but i really hope the owner never gets in a wreck with it... just think about how much it would cost to replace that kind of paint job or if it would even be possible.
